Virginia Law Makers Go Too Far

They can take away our cigarettes, and tax us to hell and back, but the state lawmakers in Virginia have taken things too far this time–they’re trying to take away my balls.

To be specific, they’re trying to make it a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $250 to hang a pair of fake nuts from your trailer hitch.

The idea and motivation, however, came from a constituent upset that his young daughter had caught sight of the facsimile sex organs and asked what they were.

Dorm Daze 2

Well, we’ve been seeing this one on cable a bit lately, and realized that our previous review of the DVD we received was probably deleted when we melted down our last blog.

Like its predecessor, National Lampoon’s Dorm Daze 2 is basically an excuse to show some naked chicks on screen, with average actors and a weak plot to round it out. In other words, it’s exactly the kind of movie we like to watch when the hangover is screaming for something that isn’t going to require a whole lot of attention to follow along.

Ouch! Man loses boat when he calls favorite bar.

Alan Thompson is a logical man–when he fell and injured himself while sailing the uninsured boat he just flew to the United States to purchase back to the UK, he grabbed his satellite phone, and dialed for help–at his local pub back in England.

The owner of the pub contacted authorities, and quickly the Coast Guard was on its way (Thompson was about 600 miles off the coast of Bermuda at the time). Turns out, he’d broken his pelvis–and the Coast Guard needed to get him off the boat to treat him.

Building off of the Things Women Make Us Do post from yesterday, here’s a guy who didn’t take the route of suing his wife’s new lover–nope, he went to the butcher’s shop and got a cow’s head instead, and mailed it to the guy. Not sure if Pennsylvania has a “Cuckolded Spouse” route, but I’m thinking I’d take $750 large over 50 hours of community service and two years probation. Oh, and the guy did reconcile with the wife, too.

A Drink (or Two) A Day Keeps the Reaper Away

A new Danish study shows that drinking can help reduce your chances of heart disease. The study, which started in the 80’s and followed the health and lives of almost 12,000 people, showed that people who neither drink nor exercise had about a 50% higher chance of getting heart disease.

The study also found that non-drinkers were almost a third more likely to die from heart disease compared with people drinking moderately – up to two drinks a day. The risk remained no matter how much exercise was taken by abstainers.

Husband Trades in Wife for $750,000

OK, not exactly–his wife actually left him for her boss, a wealthy realtor. But Mississippi plumber Johnny Valentine did something about it that didn’t involve driving over to his house with guns–he took the sonofabitch to court. And won.

Turns out Mississippi (along with about five other states) has a law that allows a cuckolded spouse to seek damages for “loss of society, companionship, love and affection,” as well as “the loss of sexual relations.” And with her admission of adultery in hand (not to mention the daughter that apparently was quite obviously not his), he was awarded $750,000.
