Guiness Turns 250 Years Old

Back in 1759, Arthur Guiness signed a lease for a brewery in Dublin, Ireland, to start brewing his now famous stout beer.  To celebrate the anniversary, stout-lovers around the world lifted a glass of the foamy black brew to Arthur Thursday at 12:59 PM CT, on what the company has dubbed “Arthur’s Day.”

Guinness parent Diageo PLC celebrated the anniversary with a invitation only party at the brewery at St. James’s Gate, while other parties were held in more than 150 countries around the world.

Darn Kids–Turn Down That Stereo!

One Ohio city is contemplating a law that we think might have some legs.  Apparently, car stereos being blasted at unreasonable levels are a bit of a problem in Lorain, OH–so the City Council has passed a new law that would increase fines for offenders, and give police the option of removing the stereo from offenders’ vehicles.  The mayor is considering the law now.

That’s right–if you don’t play by the city’s rules, they’re going to take your ball and send you home…or something like that.

Hugh Hefner Files for Divorce

More than 10 years after separating from wife Kimberly Conrad Hefner, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner has filed for divorce.

Hefner is asking a judge to order him to pay $20,000 per month in spousal support–half what he is currently paying–for two years, or until a divorce trial can be completed.

Driver Gets 56 Tickets in 13-minute Pursuit

In what might be a new record, 21-year old Joshua Bracci of Greece, NY, was given 56 traffic tickets by the Greece Police Department and State Police after leading officers on a 13-minute chase through town, at speeds reaching approximately 111 MPH.

Greece also managed to hit a parked car, and back into a squad car during the pursuit, and also drove with his lights off trying to evade arrest.
