Ryan Powdrell was a 5th-year starting fullback for the USC Trojans heading into the 2006 season. In the highly anticipated season opening matchup with Arkansas, he lead the team in receiving. The following week, against Nebraska, things took a turn for the worse–literally.
Taking a handoff and cutting left, two Cornhuskers converged on Powdrell and made the tackle–but in bringing him down, rolled his leg, dislocating and breaking his ankle in the process, and leaving it bent 90 degrees the wrong way.
A couple of images taken during the tackle–note the look on his face in the close up.
